Now Amazon Halo Band Can Share Your Heart Rate
Now you can choose to let the wearable fitness tracker (Amazon Halo Band) share your live heart rate data with supported third-party apps and devices.
Amazon Halo fitness band tracks everything from your movement and sleep patterns to body fat and tone of voice. And now, it is updated with the ability to share live heart rate information with third-party devices and fitness apps over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The company is partnered with NordicTrack for its iFit service, besides Openfit and CLMBR.
Connections like that allow you to display your live heart rate on a supported device while you get in a workout or track your heart rate over time in a supported fitness app. It’s a development and another step toward expanding Halo’s versatility. Previously this summer, Amazon added a new phone camera-enabled movement tracker designed to analyze your flexibility.
Showing on-screen heart rate is a standard feature for fitness services to motivate you while you’re doing physical activities and help explain why you might feel strained during a specific part of your workout. Additionally, on-screen heart rate is a feature that also sells other devices, like how Apple Fitness Plus requires the use of an Apple Watch.
While not an exact match for the Apple Watch’s GymKit functionality, the inclusion of heart rate sharing should make the Halo Band more versatile, and that’s exactly the wearable needs. The fact is most of the platform’s best features are found inside the accompanying Halo app.
Amazon Halo Band working with a few other services is a real plus if you don’t want to use a specific service. Flipping the switch on live heart rate monitoring is also the latest way Amazon has supported its device post-launch with software features. Recently in June, Amazon added the ability for its app and band to monitor movement health. At launch, the integration works with machines from brands like NordicTrack and CLBMR plus software like iFit and Openfit. To enable the feature, open the settings menu in the Amazon Halo app and find the Heart Rate Sharing option and while wearing the Halo, turn the heart rate setting on.
