COVID-19 Healthcare During Quarantine

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) chief, at least 115,000 health and care workers have died due to the COVID-19 pandemic since the pandemic began last year, hailing their sacrifice and asserting the need to protect and invest in the healthcare workforce as a matter of urgency.

Many research has shown that supplementing with specific herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other substances can help you improve immune response and potentially protect against illness. And COVID-19 is a new one; a few clinical trials have explored the possibility that supplements may be effective. Unfortunately, most of the evidence is unconvincing. There has to be a reason that supplements such as Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin C, B Complex Vitamins, Omega-3, or melatonin might help fight against COVID-19. Your immune system includes a complex collection of cells, processes, and chemicals that constantly defends your body against invading pathogens, including viruses, toxins, and bacteria.

At the opening of the WHO’s main annual assembly, WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said, “We estimate at least 115,000 health and care workers have paid the ultimate price in the service of others. Health and care workers do heroic things. They aren’t superheroes. They are humans, just like the rest of us. Many feel frustrated, helpless, and unprotected, lacking access to personal protective equipment and vaccines, and the tools to save lives.”

He also said, “We will lose many more as long as the pandemic rages.”

He added, “Health and care workers do heroic things. But they are not superheroes. They’re humans, like the rest of us. They sweat and swear. They laugh and cry. They feel and hope many feel frustrated. Helpless,”

He lamented that several healthcare workers lost their lives in the last 18 months, and so many will lose as long as the pandemic rages. The WHO chief said that the doses administered so far would have been enough to vaccinate every healthcare worker and older person around the world. The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO and meets each year typically. In 2021, it is meeting virtually for the second time due to the pandemic.

According to research by Johns Hopkins University, more than 3.4 million people have so far died from COVID-19. More than 1.6 billion vaccines are administered globally. Almost 600 million were distributed in the EU, US, UK, and Canada, while China has used more than 510 million doses.
