Casio Unveiled The Pac-Man Model For His A100 Watch
Casio has announced a new watch designed in collaboration with Bandai Namco, celebrating one of the most iconic video games of all time, Pac-Man. The new watch model number is A100WEPC. It’s based on a reissue of another classic Casio’s F-100 digital watch.
The F-100 Casio was released in 1978 and is notable for being the first Casio watch with a complete resin exterior. It has a retro-futuristic design with four buttons on the front of it that resemble a control panel. Besides, its lightweight, affordability, and durability paved the way for other resin Casio editions like the G-Shock line. The F-100 was the first Casio quartz watch built in a resin case that offered advanced features. It delivered a stopwatch, digital alarm, and calendar functionality.
The A100 series will launch in two versions, a silver version, a gold edition. It looks like a gray or gunmetal edition with an inverted LCD & the Pac-Man edition. The new A100 watch retains the same shape and structure, but it has a metallic-style finish and a stainless steel band. Therefore, the F-100 has since become a rare collector’s item, and A steel version of the F-100 was released in 1978, the 52QS-14, but it had a slightly different shape.
Their full specs have not been revealed yet. But the watch is anticipated to have a countdown timer, stopwatch, LED light, and alarm. Also, their basic edition is water resistance. Casio’s watch isn’t the first with a Pac-Man theme. However, Casio pairs it with a watch design from the same period. It’s maybe a bit more desirable for fans of the game. The Pac-Man version features Pac-Man, the ghost characters, the cherries, and all pixelated on the watch face. Also, they’re joined by the Illuminator text that is in Pac-Man’s pixelated font.
The only thing we don’t know is how much this watch is going to cost. There’s no specific launch time or pricing mentioned in the press release.
